This is a two hour class that will include an hour of guided visualization and meditation, followed by an intuitively guided handbuilding class. We will use native, wild clay (earth) locally sourced in Richmond, and fire it in our gas kiln, where the fire and air elements have leave their own impression on the final piece. The final work will be imbued with the energies summoned in our grounding work.
Grounding is the practice of anchoring your awareness to the present moment, calming the nervous system, and connecting to source energy—the universal, creative life force that flows through all things. Working with clay physically mirrors this internal journey. By forcing your full presence, the clay grounds you in the earth element, naturally slows your breathing, and quiets anxious thoughts.
This immersive experience beautifully blends that inner stillness with the raw, physical touch of the earth. Designed as a somatic journey, our workshop invites you to quiet the mind, connect with your inner landscape, and channel that grounded energy directly into a tactile ceramic project. Whether you seek to release stress, process emotions, or awaken your innate creativity, this class offers a gentle, therapeutic space to heal, center yourself, and create.
